My background
I am a debut author and amateur astronomer with a lifelong fascination with all things space, which began while standing in my school playground seeing rockets heading to orbit.
Writing is my third act in a career that has been focused on post-secondary education and workforce development. I am a strong advocate of reforms that make education and skills development more accessible, affordable and inclusive.

My style
My writing style is evolving as I get deeper into the journey. The idea for the novel I am working on now has been floating around in my brain for several years, but I didn't really get serious about it until about a year and a half ago. For the first year since, I wrote at the rate of about one chapter per week; a workable pace for me, though I am aware that some writers move much more rapidly, which has always impressed me. An overall outline, divided up into chapters, then a list of things that would need to happen in each chapter, all seemed to help. When I couldn't decide which way to go on some plot element, I created a Q and A document where I would argue with myself about the pros and cons of different choices. The last six months have been self-edit, beta reader feedback, and now developmental edits with my editor.
